Nowadays wooden building is a perspective yet underrated for a number of reasons area of civil engineering. The purpose of the research was to figure out why it is not developed enough in Russia and to determine common directions of its growth. The study proved wooden structures to be as efficient as other building structures from points of different characteristics such as fire resistance and thermal insulation and capable of fully replacing concrete baring structures. The final results of this research show that using wooden structures can decrease weight, cost and time required to erect a building. It is proved by several examples of existing high-rise wooden buildings in developed countries.
